On Farm Soil Education

We provide holistic on farm, monitoring based educational programs for land custodians who want to design a strategy to bring soils back to life and create a thriving, profitable and enjoyable business.

Our regenerative design process empowers you to stop winging it and find the best way forward for your unique context that optimises the use of your time, energy, and financial resources.

Your success is our business.  We are client focused which means working with you to achieve your goals is our only priority. We do not sell products or earn commission from product referrals.

Some of the benefits our clients gain through working with our soil restoration programs include:

  • Developing a soil restoration strategy relevant for their unique context that is independent from the sale of products.

  • Confidence, clarity and focused direction to take action in line with their desired outcomes.

  • Setting up monitoring sites and programs so they know when they are moving forwards, and to pick up early warning signals of unintended outcomes to give them peace of mind.

  • Written reports summarising key concepts and including action plans as needed.

  • Phone/online support as needed.

  • Tools, templates, resources and knowledge to support them in building their own observation skills.

  • Accountability and mindset support to keep them on track and identify blind spots.

Investment from $600 AUD + GST (+ travel and laboratory testing costs if required)

Soil Monitoring Programs

We can base our soil restoration programs around establishing soil monitoring sites where we carry out a comprehensive soil health assessment either on a visit to your property, or by working together online (where you are guided through the monitoring process remotely).  We train our onsite and online soil monitoring program clients to monitor soil health and we work together to interpret the results.   We have provided onsite and online soil health restoration programs for clients in a range of contexts across Australia.  Our clients grow in confidence quickly in both onsite and online program delivery.

We take a holistic view of soil health incorporating soil physical, biological and mineral health.  This can involve taking plant tissue, in-depth soil mineral and microbial tests as required.  Our holistic approach to soil health is what sets us apart. Just as we would not generally seek a medical opinion from a practitioner who considers only your blood tests in the absence of a physical health examination and medical history, we do not base our approach solely on soil chemical analysis.

Our assessment encompasses management practices, resources, soil type, visual soil assessments and observations of weeds/pests/disease and explorations regarding what these could be indicating.  Monitoring gets more valuable the more that you do it, so we encourage you to continue to use the monitoring sites we set up, and the monitoring skills you develop on an ongoing basis to inform your soil restoration strategy and monitor changes over time.  We can also support you with yearly visits for ongoing soil monitoring to ensure this practice is continued if preferred.

Our packages can incorporate a formal follow up and review process to keep you accountable to your goals. We provide an independent sounding board as you take action to implement changes in your business and to monitor and review key factors to ensure you stay on track.

Investment from $1200 AUD + GST ( + travel and laboratory testing costs if required)

Soils on Small Areas

Small areas can add up to big results when we are restoring soil health.

We are small area land stewards ourselves and understand first-hand the potential and the challenges associated with soil restoration on smaller scales.  We offer soils educational programs specifically for small area land custodians. These can be delivered either online or in person to make soil health education accessible cost wise and time wise for small area soil stewards who are passionate about soil restoration.

We bring to the program 19 years of landscape regeneration experience gained through our soil restoration journey on our property in the Northern Tablelands of NSW.  You can read our soil story here.  Alongside this we each have over 30 years experience in agriculture including experience in farming (broad acre cropping, grazing, orcharding, market gardening), agricultural extension, biodynamics, permaculture and garden renovations. We have been working with farmers and gardeners on all scales from market gardens to rangelands and everything in between to bring soils back to life. If you are curious you can read more about Kim and Angus in the “About” section of our website.

If you are a small area soil steward who has been learning about soil health, regenerative agriculture, permaculture &/or biodynamics and are feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start, or if you have been trying all sorts of things randomly and not seeing the results you know are possible then our workshops and coaching programs can help you get unstuck. We can work with you to create your soil restoration strategy that is relevant to your unique context.
